Starting point

Does this sound familiar?

This page is for broader anxiety searches and for the specific pattern the homepage already names: people who appear fine and feel far from fine.

  • You look fine and feel wired underneath

  • Rest feels unproductive or unsafe

  • You manage everyone else's feelings before your own

  • Your mind rehearses every worst case

  • You over-prepare so nothing can go wrong

  • Evenings are when it all catches up

Sessions stay somatic. We work with the nervous system patterns underneath worry, over-responsibility, and the habit of managing everything, not only with thought strategies that fade by evening.

If anxiety sits on top of complex trauma, emotional neglect, or chronic overfunctioning, we treat those roots rather than asking you to calm down harder.

The work itself

What anxiety work looks like when you already look capable

Anxiety therapy here is somatic and relational. Rather than only challenging anxious thoughts, sessions work with the nervous system patterns underneath worry, over-responsibility and constant management, and with older roots such as trauma or neglect, so the body can begin to stand down instead of calming down harder.

High-functioning anxiety rarely looks like panic from the outside. You meet deadlines, hold relationships together, and keep going, while your body stays braced for the next thing that could go wrong. Rest feels unproductive or unsafe. The mind manages. The body does not fully stand down.

Therapy here stays somatic. We work with the nervous system patterns underneath worry, over-responsibility, and chronic management, not only with thought strategies that fade by evening.

If anxiety sits on top of complex trauma, emotional neglect, or chronic overfunctioning, we treat those roots rather than asking you to calm down harder.

Anxiety is often a very loyal protector. We get to know what it is guarding before asking it to rest.

How anxiety-focused sessions proceed

Movements, not steps to complete. Sessions rarely run in a straight line.

  1. Separate symptom from source

We clarify whether anxiety is primary or a nervous system expression of older threat patterning, because that changes how we work.

  2. Track the body beneath the worry

Breath, muscle bracing, gut tightness, and the urge to fix become part of the session, not problems to think away.

  3. Interrupt over-management gently

Over-responsibility and anticipatory control often soothe anxiety short-term and maintain it long-term. We experiment with small pauses in that cycle.

  4. Widen capacity for not knowing

Uncertainty is often the fuel. Building tolerance for unfinishedness, in body and in life, is usually more lasting than reassurance alone.

Fit

Who anxiety work tends to fit

Read both lists with anxiety work in mind. A mismatch here usually shows up as stalled work rather than sudden relief.

This is likely a good fit if

  • Look fine and feel wired underneath
  • Cannot switch the mind off at night even when the day was successful
  • Manage everyone else’s feelings before their own
  • Have tried CBT or coping tools and still feel braced
  • Experience anxiety as productivity, people-pleasing, or perfection rather than obvious panic
  • Suspect the anxiety is downstream of trauma or developmental patterning

This is probably not the right fit if

  • You want only CBT worksheets and thought-challenging exercises
  • You need in-person sessions. This is a virtual practice with no physical office
  • You are in crisis or need urgent care, which this practice is not set up to provide

If you are in crisis or thinking about suicide, call or text 9-8-8 in Canada, or call 911 in an emergency. Those services are available 24 hours a day.

Over time

What may ease without promising calm forever

Change here is gradual and individual. Nothing on this page is promised as a finish line.

People sometimes notice they can catch the spiral earlier, rest in shorter windows without guilt, or feel less responsible for outcomes they never controlled. The volume of background bracing may drop a notch.

Anxiety may still visit. The difference is often how long it runs the whole system, and whether you disappear into management every time it does.

If trauma or neglect is underneath, shifts deepen as those layers are met, still without outcome guarantees or timelines.

Less constant scanning

The background hum of threat may ease, even when life stays busy.

Rest without guilt

Unstructured time may feel less unsafe and less like wasted time.

Clearer signals

You may tell the difference between real danger and an old alarm more quickly.

Practicalities

Anxiety therapy without the commute

For people who already run hot, travel and waiting rooms can spend the regulation you need for the session. Online therapy across Ontario lets you work from a familiar environment and save the activation budget for what actually matters in the hour.

Fully virtual

Sessions are offered online across Ontario from this virtual practice, on a secure online telehealth platform with nothing to download.

What you need

A private spot where you can speak freely and notice yourself without performing for the screen. Headphones help; a polished setup does not matter.

After each session

A receipt is issued showing the service and CRPO registration, for submission to your insurer.

Before you book

Common questions

Is this CBT for anxiety?

Not primarily. Cognitive tools may appear, but the center of gravity is somatic and relational, especially when you already know your thoughts and still feel anxious.

What if I do not have panic attacks?

You do not need panic for anxiety to be clinically real. High-functioning, anticipatory, and body-based anxiety are common presentations here.

Could this be trauma instead of anxiety?

Sometimes anxiety is the visible layer of a nervous system organized around threat. We assess that carefully rather than forcing one label.

Will medication be required?

Medication decisions belong with a physician or nurse practitioner. Therapy can complement medical care; it does not prescribe or replace it.

How does this relate to burnout?

Chronic anxiety and overfunctioning often feed burnout. If exhaustion and inability to switch off are central, the burnout page may also speak to you.

How many sessions will I need?

There is no set number, and any specific promise would be inaccurate. Most people meet weekly at first so the work has continuity, then review together. Some notice shifts after a handful of sessions; patterns rooted in early or complex trauma usually need longer, because a nervous system reads rushing as danger.

Can I claim sessions through my insurance?

A receipt is issued after every session showing the service and the practitioner's CRPO registration. Whether it is reimbursed depends on your plan: coverage for a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) varies between insurers, so confirm that wording with your provider before you book.
