What the free consultation actually is

The free consultation is a 20-minute call on a secure online telehealth platform with Mariya Garnet to talk about what brings you here, ask how the work happens, and feel whether the pace and approach fit. It is not a sales call or a mini session, and there is no obligation to book afterward.

The free consultation is a short conversation on a secure online telehealth platform, not a mini therapy session and not a sales pitch. You get about twenty minutes to name what is bringing you here, ask how the work happens at Silver Owl Therapy, and notice whether the pace and tone feel workable.

You do not need a polished story, a diagnosis, or certainty that you are ready to commit. Many people arrive with a felt sense that something is off and only a few words for it. That is enough for this call.

Mariya will share how sessions typically unfold, what online care looks like in practice, and whether somatic, creative, or spiritually literate framing might fit what you are carrying. There is no obligation to book afterward.

You do not need a polished story. A sense that something is not sitting right is enough for this call.

How the consult usually goes

  1. You book a time

Choose a free consultation slot online. You will get a confirmation with a link to the secure online telehealth platform and a reminder before we meet.

  2. You share what you can

We start with what feels most present: symptoms, history, what has helped, what has not. You set the depth. There is no need to tell everything in twenty minutes.

  3. We check fit and next steps

Mariya reflects how the practice works, answers practical questions about fees and online sessions, and together you decide whether a first therapy session makes sense. If it does not, that is a useful outcome too.

Fit

Who the free call tends to fit

This call is brief on purpose. Use the lists to decide whether booking twenty minutes is useful right now.

This is likely a good fit if

  • You are considering therapy and want to feel the fit before paying for a full session
  • You have done earlier therapy and want to know whether body-based work is different here
  • You are unsure which therapy page matches you and need orientation
  • Cost, pacing, or online format questions are sitting in the way of booking
  • You want a low-pressure first contact with a clinician who will not rush you

This is probably not the right fit if

  • You are looking for a full therapy session at no cost
  • You are in crisis or need urgent care, which this practice is not set up to provide

If you are in crisis or thinking about suicide, call or text 9-8-8 in Canada, or call 911 in an emergency. Those services are available 24 hours a day.

Over time

What you leave with

Change here is gradual and individual. Nothing on this page is promised as a finish line.

Clarity about whether this practice matches what you need right now, and a sense of Mariya’s pace and presence. You should leave knowing more about somatic and integrative options here than when you arrived.

If you continue, the next step is usually an individual psychotherapy session. If you pause, you still have language for what you are looking for elsewhere. Either way, the consult is designed to reduce the guesswork of starting.

Clarity on fit

You leave knowing whether this practice matches what you need right now.

Practical answers

Fees, receipts, sliding scale and online logistics are covered plainly.

A next step

Either a first session booked, or clearer language for what to look for elsewhere.

Before you book

Common questions

Is the consultation really free?

Yes. There is no fee and no obligation to book therapy afterward. It exists so you can check fit without paying for a full session first.

What should I prepare?

Nothing elaborate. A few notes on what you want help with can help, but you can also arrive with only a feeling that something needs attention.

Can we talk about fees and sliding scale?

Yes. Ask about session fees, receipts, and whether limited sliding-scale spots might be available. Honest conversation about cost belongs on this call.

What if I already know I want to start therapy?

You can still use the consult to meet Mariya and ask practical questions, or go ahead and book an individual psychotherapy session if that feels clearer. Many people prefer the consult first.

What happens after I book?

You will get an automatic confirmation with a link to your session on a secure online telehealth platform, with nothing to download. A reminder goes out 24 hours beforehand with the link again. At the time of the call, join from a private space where you can speak freely.
