Starting point

Does this sound familiar?

This is a core differentiator of the practice: somatic, creative, nature-based (eco-somatic), and spiritually literate work held together.

  • You're a seeker who feels alone in ordinary spaces

  • You want spirituality without bypassing trauma

  • Nature feels like the only place you can settle

  • You have been called too sensitive or too much

  • Spiritual practice sometimes helps you avoid pain

  • You feel more at home in nature than with people

If you've been told you're too sensitive, too mystical, or too much, you don't have to leave that part at the door.

The work itself

Spiritual psychotherapy that stays in the body

Spiritual psychotherapy is trauma-informed therapy that takes meaning, nature connection and the sacred seriously without bypassing the body. It welcomes spiritual and eco-somatic language when it already lives in you, and keeps asking that healing settle in your nervous system, relationships and ordinary days, not only in insight.

Spiritual psychotherapy here is not soft denial and not doctrine. It takes meaning, nature connection, longing for the sacred, and the seeker’s isolation seriously, and insists that healing still has to settle in your nervous system, your relationships, and your ordinary days.

This is a core thread of Silver Owl Therapy: somatic, creative, eco-somatic, and spiritually literate work held together. If you have been told you are too sensitive, too mystical, or too much, you do not have to leave that part at the door. You also do not get to use it to bypass grief, trauma, or accountability.

Nature, image, and ritual language may enter when they serve regulation and truth, never as decoration over unresolved wounding.

You do not have to leave your spirituality at the door, and you do not have to use it to skip the hard parts.

How spiritually literate sessions stay grounded

Movements, not steps to complete. Sessions rarely run in a straight line.

  1. Honor meaning without floating away

We take your worldview seriously and keep checking whether the work is increasing embodiment and honesty, or escaping them.

  2. Root in somatic and relational reality

Breath, sensation, attachment patterns, and present relationships remain primary. Sacred language does not replace nervous system work.

  3. Draw on eco-somatic and creative threads

Nature connection, image, and expressive process may support material that talk alone cannot hold, always at a pace you can integrate.

  4. Differentiate insight from bypass

Spiritual frameworks that skip anger, grief, or boundaries are gently interrupted. Depth includes the parts that are harder to spiritualize.

Fit

Who spiritually literate work tends to fit

Read both lists with spiritually literate work in mind. A mismatch here usually shows up as stalled work rather than sudden relief.

This is likely a good fit if

  • Feel alone with spiritual or existential questions in ordinary spaces
  • Want spirituality without bypassing trauma or the body
  • Find nature one of the few places their system can settle
  • Carry mystical, imaginal, or meaning-rich experiences that need grounded holding
  • Have been pathologized for sensitivity or dismissed for seeking
  • Want clinical psychotherapy that can speak more than secular coping language

This is probably not the right fit if

  • You want a particular doctrine or spiritual teaching delivered to you
  • You need in-person sessions. This is a virtual practice with no physical office
  • You are in crisis or need urgent care, which this practice is not set up to provide

If you are in crisis or thinking about suicide, call or text 9-8-8 in Canada, or call 911 in an emergency. Those services are available 24 hours a day.

Over time

What this kind of holding can change

Change here is gradual and individual. Nothing on this page is promised as a finish line.

People often feel less split between their spiritual life and their clinical needs. Sensitivity can start to feel like information rather than a flaw. Connection with nature or meaning may become more regulating and less isolating.

Trauma and attachment wounds can still be worked directly. Spirituality becomes a companion to that work, not a substitute for it.

There is no promise of awakening, enlightenment, or permanent peace, only a careful space where soul and nervous system are allowed in the same room.

Less hiding

Sensitive and seeking parts of you may feel less like something to keep out of view.

Grounded meaning

Spiritual insight may start to connect with daily choices rather than floating above them.

Honest practice

Practice may become a support for feeling, not a way around it.

Practicalities

Seeking online, still embodied

Spiritual psychotherapy does not require a shared physical sanctuary. Online sessions across Ontario can include nature-based reflection from wherever you already feel some ground, a window, a walk afterward, a private corner that belongs to you.

Fully virtual

Sessions are offered online across Ontario from this virtual practice, on a secure online telehealth platform with nothing to download.

What you need

A private spot where you can speak freely and notice yourself without performing for the screen. Headphones help; a polished setup does not matter.

After each session

A receipt is issued showing the service and CRPO registration, for submission to your insurer.

Before you book

Common questions

Do I need a specific religion or spiritual path?

No. The work meets your language and values. It is not evangelical and not anti-religious. Honesty about what meaning means to you matters more than labels.

What is spiritual bypassing?

Using spiritual ideas to avoid pain, anger, grief, boundaries, or trauma. Therapy here names that pattern when it appears and returns to embodied reality.

Is eco-somatic work part of this?

Often. Nature connection can be a regulating and meaningful part of sessions or between-session life when it fits you, without requiring wilderness access or a particular lifestyle.

Can this combine with psychedelic integration?

Yes when relevant. Non-ordinary experiences often carry spiritual content that needs both reverence and clinical grounding.

Will you impose your beliefs?

No. Mariya’s background informs capacity and literacy, not a required cosmology for clients. Your meaning system remains yours.

How many sessions will I need?

There is no set number, and any specific promise would be inaccurate. Most people meet weekly at first so the work has continuity, then review together. Some notice shifts after a handful of sessions; patterns rooted in early or complex trauma usually need longer, because a nervous system reads rushing as danger.

Can I claim sessions through my insurance?

A receipt is issued after every session showing the service and the practitioner's CRPO registration. Whether it is reimbursed depends on your plan: coverage for a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) varies between insurers, so confirm that wording with your provider before you book.
